International Kids outings in and about Copenhagen

Ella is born March 15, 2007

Filed under: Say hi — noahsfriends @ 10:32 am

Hello there. It has been a while, as I have had a hard time planning everything with this late baby! She added another 10 days to her woom-days! Anyway, Ella is in flying form and of course just a “guldklump”. Noah is a bit confused, but mainly proudly showing off is new baby sister.

Melanie, Peter and Cora has also had a new family member. They had a boy, Peter. He seems to be thriving too.

Anyway the next trip is already the 25th of march. That’s soon I know, I am not giving you much chance of planning ahead!
John, Liam’s dad, suggested a trip to the national museum with the kids. Spend some time in the museum and then go to their café and have brunch. The museum opens at 10 so I suggest that we meet in the entry hall at 10:30. I have booked a table in the cafe for 12:30. So let me know if you are interested.

Teletubbies and Boowa and Kwala February 3, 2007

Filed under: kids websites — noahsfriends @ 8:28 pm

There are quite a few good sites for kids. Generally it is the television station that do the best ones. I have found that the teletubbies are great especially from a really young age. Both BBC and PBS have good teletubbies sites:
BBC Teletubbies
PBS Teletubbies
The PBS site also have games from other series, so there is plenty to entertain with there.
John then added in a comment that they use a site with the two charachters Boowa and Kwala. I have been in looking at this site, and it looks good to. I think the age group is a little older than the Teletubbies, but defenitely not too old for Noah.
DR also has a good kid site, Oline, these are less extensive but has an added bonus of being in Danish. Being a bit of a nature nerd, I (and Noah) can also recommend lille nørd. This is a kids program on DR which you can also find on their internet site.

Theatre February 3, 2007

Filed under: Ideas for new trips — noahsfriends @ 8:09 pm

Zorana has made a comment on going to the theatre. It sounds great, and I can’t wait to hear how their trip went. The first time Noah went to a puppet show he got a bit scared, but that was about 1½ year ago, so I would be willing to go again soon.
There are at least four theatres that do kids show, they are:
Anemone teatret
Det lille teater
Riddersalen og
zangenbergs teater
Tickets can be bought here.

Åhh abe February 3, 2007

Filed under: Ideas for new trips — noahsfriends @ 7:59 pm

Today at the swimming pool we were talking about going to a kids concert. I got thinking about the Åhh abe concert that is held in Valby parken each year. It is supposed to be a great event, where groups get to gether and make great picknicks.
Unfortunately I have also just found out that we cannot go. But that shouldn’t keep you guys from going.

Zoo January 27, 2007

Filed under: Say hi — noahsfriends @ 9:41 pm

I think Zorana’s idea of going to the zoo sounds brilliant and especially the bit of waiting til spring time. Both weather wise – but in our case – also kids wise.
I know it is not very Pædagogisk to play games on the computer with young children, but we have found that the teletubbies webpages are both entertaining and fairly good for children. So here’s to sites for the link list:
BBC Teletubbies
PBS Teletubbies
The PBS site has loads of other non teletubbies games available too.

Bagsværd Svømmehal and horse carriage January 17, 2007

Filed under: Ideas for new trips — noahsfriends @ 10:42 am

Finally. It is time to arrange the next outing. The general interests from people seems to go to either the swimming pool or the horse carriage. As I am in the same boat as Melanie (big bumps) I think that we should go for the swimming pool first as we both want to go, but soon wont be able to take part in the FUN. :)

Pool
My suggestion is that we go to Bagsværd Svømmehal as Melanie suggested, it sounds like a cool place with lots to do. They have a little restaurant/cafe there that we can go to afterwards or during. Timewise I was thinking 10 o’clock feb. 3rd. The price is very reasonably but with a 10 trip card we can even reduce this price. I was going to book a table, just as much to have a base in the pool, but also so we can have a few snack there. The table will cost a little extra, but not much and it would be nice to have a place to chat between swims.
Here’s a link for the pool.
Transport, for those of you that drive you can look up on www.krak.dk. The address is:
Bagsværd Svømmehal
Værebrovej 156
2880 Bagsværd
For the rest of us, the bagsværd s-train station is in walking distance.
It would be nice to know how many are interested, so please write/phone back. The date is not a set date, so do write if you would really like to come, but the date is bad.

Horse Carriage
The horse carriage sound really good to. This was Yasmina’s idea. Here I was thinking to go the first weekend of March. Melanie suggested that we could go on the ponies too. So maybe if the weather allows we could take the carriage around dyrehaven from klampenborg station and leave us off up at the gate with the pony rides. Then maybe finish off with a picknick.

Restaurants December 28, 2006

Filed under: Shops, sites & restaurants — noahsfriends @ 11:43 am

Brendan and I are always on the lookout for good child-friendly restaurants. So if you know of any please let us know. Ideally the place has a corner devoted to kids play, but this is not a must. The places we know of is Jensens Boefhus on Amagerbrogade that has a play area (allthough it is placed down by the toilets and smoking section!), La Rocca (as posted under links) and this cool little cafe on Christianshavn which doubles as a bookshop, Chester’s bogcafe.
